‘How to Check CIBIL Score for Free Online?’ is a part of the series where we are trying to understand some basic banking terms that relate to personal finance. In the last post, we have discussed the CIBIL Score in detail with examples. If you have not covered that lesson, I will request you to have a look at it so that you can have a fair idea about the CIBIL Score and how banks and other financial institutes deal with it before disbursing loans to you. However, in this post, you will learn how to check it online at free of cost. Let’s begin.
How to Check CIBIL Score for free?
You can check your CIBIL Score either Online or Offline. I wish most of our readers are tech-savvy and can do it online. However, we will take the case of Offline first.
[Note: If you wish to check your CIBIL score for free, then it is better to go online as offline checking comes with two price variants: CIBIL Score + CIR = Rs 550.00 or only CIBIL CIR = Rs 164.00]
The Offline Way
To get your CIBIL Score offline, you have to download a ‘FORM’ from the CIBIL website. You can also click the below link to get one.
Then, you have to fill out the details. There are five boxes.
- Your name and address details
- Your contact information
- Required documents for Identity proof and Address proof (self-attested)
- Your Demand Draft details. However, you have to choose if you need a CIBIL Score plus CIR or CIBIL CIR only. [However, If you are confused about what is the difference between the two, you can refer to my post on CIBIL Score by clicking here.]
- Your signature
Once done, you can send it to the address mentioned in the box-6. That’s all. The CIBIL Bureau will deliver it to your address.

Alternatively, you can visit the following sites to check your CIBIL Score.
Can I check my CIBIL Score free using other sites?
I would not recommend you to check your CIBIL or Credit Score using other sites. There are hundreds of websites that provide you the facility to check it online free of cost. For example, bajajfinserv.in, paisabazar.com, bankbazaar.com, mycarloan.in, wishfin.com, etc..Etc.
However, only four organizations mentioned before are authorized to keep your record. In case you choose other websites, they will redirect you to these sites alone. Therefore, I don’t feel that it is an advantage to put your details into these unauthorized websites. Further, they will use your data and may ask for their products or services.
Is it safe to give your personal data to sites like bankbazaar?
Yes. Your data is safe. bankbazaar.com is an ISO 27001: 2013 certified company, which is an internationally accepted certification for the highest level of customer data security. There is no chance of data theft. However, they can use the data to offer you a personal loan, auto loan, home loan, etc.
My recommendations: I would recommend you to use an online method to check your CIBIL Score as it is more convenient. However, stick to the authorized websites that I have mentioned before, as that is a more secure approach. You can also check your CIBIL Score on your bank website. However, they may charge a little bit for the service. For example, the State bank of India provides you the service but charges Rs 440.00 for the same. You can also check your bank to get the details.
